Gantz 295

The rest of the Tokyo team wonder about the fate of Kurono.

Summary:
After being suddenly transported back to the Gantz room, Reika wonders why Kurono is with everyone. Sakurai notices that Kato, Old Man, and Inaba are missing as well, but soon Kato is teleported to the room.

In the European City, Kurono has lost the left side of his face and his left arm, but he stays upright long enough to pull the trigger on his H-gun and take out half of the giant angel alien. Both Kurono and the alien then fall to ground from their injuries.

Looks like Kurono isn't a big fan of Renaissance sculptures.

Back in the Gantz room, Katou, Sakurai, and Reika fear the worst. Nishi is tired of waiting and demands the Gantz ball start assigning scores, and the Gantz ball starts making its usual scoring sound. The supporters of Kurono can't believe that he was killed in the last mission, but to their relief Kurono is transported back into the room at the last second. The Gantz ball then starts putting up the scores, with Sakurai getting 0 points.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kurono survived. Who would have thought? Just nearly everyone who reads the manga, that's who. I'm not sure what the point was with the Kurono cliffhanger ending in the last chapter. I guess the author wanted to spice things up a bit when it became apparent that the mission wasn't important. Anyways, it's time for another scoring session, and Sakurai got blanked yet again, which is really sad given how many aliens there were (unless the weaker aliens are worth nothing). At a time like this, it's probably best for the team to start trading for weapons, unless somebody feels that bringing back Mr. Crazy aka Izumi is a good idea lol. I wonder if Reika will go through with her plan to make a copy of Kurono though. It should be very interesting if she does go that route.
  1. Gotta say, Sakurai sucks for someone who can kill people with his mind... Sucks for those who made it to the end, only to die. Anyway, who cares about Kei, what happened to the panda?
  2. Now that you mention it, looks like the panda has met its demise. A player who can't shoot doesn't stand a chance against the statue aliens after all. It's a sad day for animal lovers.
  3. Man this better not be the end. Gantz said Apocalypse and I expect something bigger.
    But I'm sure there will be. I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but on the last page where it shows that preview to next issue at the bottom, it hints at a "Malfunctioning Gantz." Sounds cool.
  4. I didn't notice the preview message. Thanks for mentioning it. I guess it must be malfunctioning since the players were teleported away before all of the aliens were killed. The real Apocalypse should be a huge and drawn-out battle (like the one vs. the Nura alien but even bigger), at least that's what I'm hoping.
  5. Part of me wonders if the plot will ever be fully clarified. Honestly, it's been such a cool and fun manga I don't think I'd care too much. If you ask the average man what he wants to see, he'll probably say "Guns, Aliens, Blood & Gore, and Boobs." This has all of that to the max. I do want to know what exactly this has been about, but not if it ruins the purpose of this manga.
  6. I don't think a full explanation of how the Gantz works is necessary since that would take away some of the mystery. It's much more fun to drop hints and let the readers guess at it I think.
  7. If I ever wrote a story like Gantz I would have to get very high for it. I mean, I love the author, but a lot of the story is far too insane.
    "Hmm, what next? I think Kei needs some family. How about a brother? OMG A VAMPIRE BROTHER, I'm a genius! Lots of vampires! But then the brother dies for the sake of his brother, oh so touching, but then the vampires win anyway mwuahahaha!"
    And Kei has died how many times now? Twice? It's like DBZ, but less stupid.
