Summary:
After falling down the hole, Asuka lands in a dark space and where she is surprised to see her parents. Asuka runs towards her parents but she is tripped up by a doll that appeared out of nowhere, and her parents then accuse her of killing them. In the mean time, Shinji is running for his life as the game level he is in is gradually collapsing into nothingness, while Misato and the operators in the real world are trying to guide Shinji to a safe spot. At the game development company, the two angels responsible for developing the MMORPG are wondering what triggered their game's self-destruct mechanism. The female angel wonders what's going to happen to Iruel who's still in the game world, and the male angel states that sometimes sacrifices have to be made.

If you had saved periodically then you wouldn't have to worry about the server suddenly shutting down.
At the Academy, Kaji wakes up and discovers that he has been tied to a column with the unconscious Toji and Hikari. Two blond strangers appear and one of them tells Kaji that the two students are not injured. Kaji demands to know who the two strangers are and one of the strangers stomps his boot into the column, barely missing Kaji's face. The person who spoke tells his/her companion not to hurt anyone and the two of them leave the room.
Back in the game world, Shinji has reached a safe zone, but soon he gets news from Misato that Asuka's signal has been lost. Misato tells Shinji to focus on defeating the angel and recovering its core, but Shinji insists on rescuing Asuka first, and he successfully convinces Misato to change her mind. Meanwhile, Asuka is huddled up on the ground while the apparitions of her parents are recalling how Asuka was a research experiment to artificially make the best shemhazai (angel hunter I'm guessing, like Shinji and Rei). Asuka became a shemhazai guardian and as part of her duty she killed her parents who had become angels. Asuka's parents state that Asuka had hated them all along and Asuka's mother moves in to choke Asuka, but at this moment Shinji crashes into the space and snaps Asuka out of her depression. Having regained her senses, Asuka tells the enemy to stop posing as her parents, and in response "Asuka's mother" removes her disguise to reveal her true face as the angel Iruel.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A decent chapter. Asuka's depression scene in the chapter is probably a tribute to the scene in the anime where Asuka's Eva got hit by the mental beam, but she recovered rather quickly unlike in the anime. Unlike the original NGE anime, there are quite a few angels running around and doing their own thing at the same time in Gakuen Datenroku. There are the two blond strangers, the two game makers, Iruel, the music twins and Kaworu for now, and there are probably more to come. All the angels running around should spice things up a bit as Shinji and company have to deal with different groups of angels simultaneously. Hopefully the fight with Iruel will be interesting.
Hey yo did u watch the original series before? I just watch finish and well i duno what to say lolz. I was expecting a normal shouen mecha anime but what i got was some sort of anime with a lot unstable emotional characters and during the end they keep repeating some sort of hypnotism/brainwashing towards all the characters lolz. It not only affected them but sort of affected me too and i have to say this type of anime was the first kind i encountered.
ReplyDeleteEvangelion is famously precisely because it subverts a shounen mecha series into a psychoanalysis of a bunch of people with mental issues. Nobody would talk about it if it was a run-of-the-mill mecha series lol.
ReplyDeleteSo what about the ending? Only the two of them survive? And the girl comment about she feel sick/digusting lolz
ReplyDeleteI guess you are talking about the End of Evangelion ending which is probably different than the original series ending. yeah the two of them are the only people in human form at the moment, but supposedly everyone who wishes for an individual existence can return to their human form. As for Asuka's statement at the end, there has been lots of discussion on it but I don't really care that much lol.
ReplyDeleteThe original series ending does not make much sense lol just that he broke out of it then everybody clap hands lolz - does not give much closure at all.
ReplyDeleteGainax famously ran into budget problems lol, so the last two episode are kinda up to the audience's interpretation. supposedly the end with the clapping signifies that Shinji accepts Instrumentality, but who really knows lol?
ReplyDeleteI thought he rejected it, because at first they show the characters in other people's minds but the main character rejected it
ReplyDeleteThe original ending is vague and has many possible interpretations... lol I think Shinji accepted it and lived happily ever after and went on to the Angelic Days/Shinji Ikari Raising Project storylines (where Asuka is Shinji's childhood friend and Rei is the hot new classmate), but that's just me.
ReplyDeleteIc because i thought instrumentality was blending all entitles to one or something so if he accepted then the third impact will occur and sort of everybody will die lolz so from this i thought shinji rejected it and so everybody clap hands lolz but that just me.
ReplyDeleteLol ya the angelic days storyline is pretty good lolz - i probably start watching this manga soon too. Oh btw is Rei related to Shinji's mother? and is asuka in love with shinji? lolz
Lol just read them and you'll find out haha. However chapters are kind of hard to find online for both Angelic Days or Shinji Ikari Raising Project. Angelic Days is over with six volumes but all I read up to is ch 1 of vol 5, and the other series is still going on supposedly and I read to chapter 30-something-ish. Neither series are that good. Pretty much just run-of-the-mill high school romantic comedies, just with Evangelion characters.
ReplyDeleteLOl haha icic i duno where to find the english version - one manga does not host it. Although i read the wiki and the story seems good, i quite a fan of this kind of high school reomantic comedies lolz.
