Fullmetal Alchemist 97

Father reveals his true form to Hohenheim. Meanwhile, King Bradley/Wrath reappears and tries to take back Central HQ.

Father to Hoheheim: Your appearance wasn't handsome enough so I opted for a make over.

Summary:
In the underground chamber, Father wonders what's wrong with his body and Hohenheim explains that he has injected a number of souls into Father's body. As spikes starts punching through Father's body from the inside, Hohenheim states that over the last few hundred years he has come to terms with the half million souls contained within his body, and he will use their power to destroy Father once and for all. It looks like Father is becoming overwhelmed by the spikes, but suddenly Hohenheim notices something is wrong. A black glob emerges from Father's mouth, turns into a humanoid shape, and the sucks up what's left of the old body. The new Father, a black humanoid sporting eyes similar to the ones inside the Gate of Truth, tells Hohenheim that he is not the only one has evolved.

In Central HQ, the Brigg forces and allies have taken over most of the fortress. Izumi saves a high-ranking military official from being killed by the zombie, and afterwards she demands that the official tell her about who's behind the puppet soldiers and forbidden research. Meanwhile, the Armstrongs arrive in the Fuhrer's office where there is a secret tunnel leading to the underground, leading the Armstrongs to conclude that the puppet soldiers came from this tunnel.

Meanwhile Buccaneer and Felman's group have taken over the front gate, and the Brigg's tank is on the way in. Suddenly, King Bradley appears in front of Central HQ and declares his intentions of taking his castle back. The tank squad starts firing at Bradley, but Bradley dodges the bullets and tank shells and single-handedly downs the entire squad including the tank. Buccaneer confronts Bradley but is quickly taken down, losing his automail arm in the process. Bradley then demands that Felman opens the gate, and the frightened and crying Felman raises his pistol against the homunculus. At this moment, the injured Buccaneer gets back up to confront Bradley again. Bradley comments that Buccaneer's actions seem pointless, and to his surprise he is answered by Greed who is sitting on top of the front gate.

It's payback time!

Wrath is back! And so is Greed!! What's more, looks like Greed wants some payback from Wrath!!! I thought Greed wanted to go after Father and take over everything (even though I don't think he has a chance in hell against Father), but of course I welcome a Greed vs. Wrath rematch. Greed was overconfident last time, but this time he'll probably be more cautious and not let Wrath gain the upper hand early. If Greed completely hardens then I don't know what Wrath can do to hurt him. Lin can also take over and use his martial arts skills as well, so it should be quite a fight. Wrath was pretty GAR in this chapter (as expected), so lets see what Greed/Lin can bring to the table. I also foresee Fu and Ran Fan appearing sooner or later to help Lin/Greed, since they are supposedly looking for him.

The other big development in the chapter is Father's evolved form. In this form Father kind of looks like a cross between Truth and eyes from the Gate. Since Father's goal seems to be learning all of the secrets from the Gate, it makes sense that he would try to become more like the Gate. Given his appearance, I'm guessing Father has similar powers to Pride but is even more powerful. Hohenheim definitely won't be able to beat Father, but maybe he can hold out long enough for Ed's group to arrive.
