It's too late to say sorry, but you can't fault Darui for trying.
Summary:
Kinkaku puts on the tailed beast cloak and starts wreaking havoc. Darui can't steal the rope from Ginkaku, and therefore can't use the sword and gourd. This prompts Darui's forces to call the command center for help. At the command center, A explains that the brothers ate the stomach meat of the Kyuubi after they were swallowed, so they have a lot of Kyuubi chakra. A then tells his subordinate to send the Amber Purifying Pot, the fifth of the Five Ultimate Treasures to Darui. Unlike the gourd, the pot can seal anyone who answers the call of the pot's wielder. Since Kinkaku knows how the pot works, Shikaku also comes up with a plan to get Kinkaku to answer the call.
Back on the battlefield, Kinkaku has destroyed a large area but Darui has managed to survive. Kitsuchi's forces arrive to back up Darui's division, and Shikaku calls Shikamaru, Choji, and Ino via a telepathy technique of a communications ninja to outline his plan. The Shinobi Army ninjas start showering Kinkaku with kunais, and then Choji jumps and hits Kinkaku with the Meat Tank. Kinkaku tosses Choji aside, but he is then caught by Shikamaru's shadow mimic. Kinkaku easily breaks that, but the momentary pause allows Ino to execute the mind body switch. Darui receives the pot and calls out to Kinkaku, and Ino answers as Kinkaku and Kinkaku is sucked into the pot (with Ino switching back to her own body just as Kinkaku was being sealed).

It's good to see Ino, Shikamaru and Choji doing a team attack once again. Despite the fox chakra cloak, Kinkaku went down rather quickly too and without killing anyone notable. I guess Naruto is still not quite willing to kill off some named good characters. Using the gourd against Kinkaku was a no go since Kinkaku still had the rope, but the Amber Purifying Pot is even better since it's an one-step process rather than a three step process. I'm guessing the pot can only hold one thing at a time though, or else it would be such an easy way to counter all the zombies. With the rope sealed with Kinkaku, the sword and gourd Darui stole are pretty useless.
With the Kin and Gin brothers gone, what's the next battle? Zombie Asuma vs. his three former students, or will it be Gaara and Oonoki vs. the four zombie Kages?
This is part of what makes the zombie arc so dumb. You know nothing will really happen, and so you basically have a bunch of lesser ninjas beating up some of history's best with just a few moves.
ReplyDeleteIf they just sent Naruto around with the pot, he could lay off the tailed beast bomb. Like what if he went out and called to White Zetsu? If one of them answers, do they all get sucked in?
The page with the pot was sketchy. Kishimoto was having trouble with the deadline?

I know what you mean. With the lack of any notable deaths, it seems like this whole war is just filler for the fodders to show their stuff. I mean come one, in the three major battles so far, the most significant deaths happened to the brother/sister combo who got stuck in the gourd. And chances are, they will find a way to release them soon enough.
ReplyDeleteWe need to see the repercussions of war. This is basically just glorifying it for the heroes. Nothing substantial is happening, other than old ninja legends getting chopped down by lesser knowns as Kabitzin said.
Somebody needs to get a hurt real bad. Somebody.
