Wouldn't be an One Piece emotional moment without someone crying with snot coming out their nose.
Summary:
Over the PA system, Fukaboshi tells everyone that Hody is just an empty bag of hate, and all the hatred for humans in the Fishman District is a grudge that haunt the island. The speech is interspersed with scenes of Hody growing up under the hateful environment and Arlong's venomous influence. Fukaboshi concludes that something must be done now to stop the hate and set things back to the way it should be. Luffy takes over the PA and promises to protect Fishman Island. While Fukaboshi was giving his speech, the bubble gun team encloses the falling Noah with a giant bubble. Meanwhile, the crazed Hody chases after Shirahoshi and Luffy, and Luffy powers up and pummels Hody with a big Gear Second armed attack.

Not too much happening this week. Most of the chapter was Fukaboshi making his speech with some flashback of how Hody grew up to be a hater, and then Luffy gives the expected hero declaration and punches Hody once. Can't say that was the most interesting chapter of One Piece I've ever read. On the bright side, the speech making is probably over and so the we can go back to the battle full time.Hody has proven to be glutton for punishment, so it won't surprise me if he is still up after Luffy's super punch. Even if Luffy KOs Hody with this attack, there is still the problem of the falling ark, so there is still plenty left to this battle.
This is the third boring chapter in a row. At first it was cool with the Malcolm X/Luther King references with Tiger and Otohime but now this "Islamic Extremist Suicide-Ku Klux Klan" references are being forced and over the top already. Maybe it will look better in the anime.
ReplyDeleteJust look at that punch from Luffy, take on account that he is not at 100% due to the contact with sea water. Hody is clearly not an opponent.
Daniel I don't know if you read the East Blue arc, but it was exactly like this. They steamrolled all their opponents during that arc.
ReplyDeleteThis is kinda like that part of the story, to impress us with the crews strength before giving them tough opponents. I mean hell crocodile was the first guy to defeat Luffy and that was ages in
"They are showing off due to first fights" Really? Where did you read a "Why they are being defeated so easily?" when I have been saying that the NFP should be disposed of already, that for the sake of the New World they must be this overpowered! But it appears as if YOU have not been reading my comments for the past few weeks!
ReplyDeleteI did not only stated the difference in power, I stated that Luffy this time was so strong that even if Hody turns one Winged Angel again and again he is no match for a not 100% (heck, I will say not even 50%) Luffy. Luffy himself states that the seawater weakens his punches.
You just "saw" something that was not there between the lines of my last sentence.
Okay just misunderstood it o.o. Don't know how that justified 3 paragraphs of you telling me that and how I should be following your comments specifically week to week=S
