New definition for "blood brothers".
Summary:
The giant sea kings tell Shirahoshi that she is their queen that they've been waiting a long time for and that Noah was meant for them to pull. The sea kings then tell Shirahoshi to go catch Luffy who is falling back into Fishman Island. The sea kings tow Noah some distance away and drops it off, and the giant beasts wonder if they can fix the damage to the ark so that it'll be ready for "that promised time". Back at Ryuuguu Palace, the Minister of the Right and guards find the missing mermaids, but they also discover that the palace's treasure trove has been emptied. This clears the Straw Hats of the kidnapping charges. At the plaza, Jinbe detains all of the human pirates, and the princes return with Decken and Hody all tied up in chains. Shirahoshi then returns with Luffy who has lost a lot of blood. Luffy needs a blood transfusion, but the merfolk and fishfolk can't donate because of the law. However, Jinbe steps up and decides to give Luffy his blood which matches Luffy's blood type. Luffy eventually wakes up after the transfusion and asks Jinbe to join the crew.

Looks like mystery surrounding Noah, the "promised day", and Shirahoshi's ability that "can destroy the world" will be saved for some later story arc. I guess Oda is saving those parts when something really, really big happens in the story. Anyways, Hody and Decken are defeated, the Straw Hats are the heroes, and Jinbe breaks down the species/racial barrier a bit by donating blood to save Luffy. All is good at least for now. I'm not surprised that Luffy is asking Jinbe to join the crew (I assume that is what "be my nakama" means) since Jinbe is an honorary member anyways. We'll see if Jinbe will say yes or no though. It could go either way since Fishman Island can certainly use Jinbe's help, but so can the Straw Hats.
On another note, it looks like Caribou made off with treasures of Ryuuguu Palace and thus ditched the mermaids. I guess the treasures must be worth more than the mermaids. Lets see if Caribou ever becomes a serious threat or remain a comedic villain like how Buggy was for the earlier parts of the story.

It could be that Caribou becomes the comic relief/villain for the New World since I bet that Buggy is, at the least, a Shichibukai now.
ReplyDeleteOh right, Buggy received a letter from the government about something, but who in their right mind would make Buggy a Shichibukai hahaha? I don't think he can stop any of the pirate captains that flourish in the New World, but I guess his various appearances during Impel Down and Marineford incidents boosted his stock.
ReplyDeleteI hope Jinbe will join Luffy's crew.
ReplyDeleteAnd seriously, Buggy as Shichibukai? XD
Buggy as a Schichibukai makes perfect sense for the government. He's weak and easily manipulated, but has managed to draw a LOT of pirates to his side through circumstance. With his crew, he's easily strong enough to poke around the early bits of the Grand Line... While being easy to take down for the proper powerhouses if he should start to misbehave.
ReplyDeleteI'm ambiguous on Jinbe joining the SHs. I mean, I like him as a character, but he is a veteran.
Guess he could take on the Grizzled Old Man role you see in a few crews.
