Too much X-Rounder power makes Zeheart go crazy.
So that's what happened to Shiro Gundam...
Summary:
Zeheart is eager to prove his worth to lead the Vagans by defeating the giant mobile armor Sid, but Sid holds Zeheart at bay by firing semi-homing curving beam weapons. While dodging Sid's beam, Zeheart becomes more and more obsessed with mastering the Gundam and carrying out Ezelcant's crazy plans.
Meanwhile, the Federation battle group heading to La Gramis has detected the battle in the asteroid field. Flit decides to ignore the finding, but Asemu and the pirates turn around and head the asteroid field. 13 years ago, Asemu was nearly killed by Sid during a mission and was rescued by the pirates. Asemu wants to destroy EXA-DB to prevent it from falling into either Vagan or Federation hands, and if Sid is around then EXA-DB must be nearby.
Not sure why Zeheart didn't stick with this "bit ball shield" strategy.
Giants can play hide and seek too... if it can turn invisible.
Back in the asteroid fields, Zeheart goes for maximum bits from the Gundam Legilis and manages to get close to Sid, but Sid evades by turning on its cloak similar to the cloak on large Vagan ships. Sid possesses technology from EXA-DB and the Vagan cloak came from the database. Thanks to the cloak, Zeheart is back to dodging beams once again, but Asemu shows up with two other pirate mobile suits. The other two pirates go look for EXA-DB while Asemu confronts Sid. Zeheart is not happy with Asemu getting in his way but he holds off on attacking Asemu. Asemu and Zeheart both attack Sid, but Sid then disappears with the cloak. Sid reappears near an asteroid and Asemu figures that EXA-DB is located the asteroid. Asemu's pirates buddies happen to be nearby, and they are killed by Sid. Asemu and Zeheart attack but Sid pulls the disappearing act once again. To avoid letting Sid get away, Asemu hooks the giant mobile armor with the Darkhound's cabled anchors. Sid drags the Darkhound around space, but the cables give Zeheart Sid's location. Zeheart then charges in, uses bits to deflect Sid's attacks, and hacks Sid with the Gundam Legilis' beam sword and causes a big explosion.
Getting dragged through space is the expected outcome when you cable yourself to a much larger opponent.
After defeating Sid, Zeheart notices Asemu heading into the asteroid Sid was guarding. Inside, Asemu finds EXA-DB and plans to destroy it. Zeheart enters to stop Asemu and starts acting crazy. Asemu uses his Gundam to shove Zeheart out of the asteroid, and the Barnache opens fire to destroy the asteroid and EXA-DB. After the asteroid is destroyed, Zeheart is content about mastering the Legilis and retreats without attacking Asemu. Among the wreck, Sid (now only the head and upper torso) attaches itself to what's left of EXA-DB.
It ain't over yet.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the span of two episodes, Zeheart has gone from being somewhat reasonable to even more crazy looking than Ezelcant. Maybe using his X-Rounder powers too much on the Legilis drove him nuts. It's looking more like Zeheart might be one of the big bads at the end and needs to be defeated. Of course, it's possible Asemu or others can convince Zeheart to have a change of heart, but that seems less likely after this episode.
Most of this episode was Zeheart dodging the bending beams of Sid. Zeheart had a few impressive moments, but it didn't look like he was going to defeat Sid any time soon on his own. Asemu's Darkhound's cable hooks came in handy for this fight, although the Darkhound by itself would be pretty useless against Sid given its lack of firepower. Sid's beam weapons are powerful and effective, but I was hoping it had more attacks such as firing the missiles again. Sid pretty much just spammed the beams and then used the cloak to evade for the whole episode. Although Asemu and Zeheart defeated Sid and EXA-DB was destroyed rather unceremoniously, it looks like Sid will be back with a vengeance after acquiring what's left of EXA-DB, and it'll probably be up to Kio to take out the giant mobile armor.
Have to say I wish they'd made the Asemu flashback longer. Just made it look way too easy for the Super Pilot in frankly a unit better than the Dark Hound to get shot up.
ReplyDeleteThis is what Zeheart gets for agreeing with a man who asked if he'd follow in his madness. He took that way too literally. Does seem like overusing his X-Rounder ability with Legilis is really messing up his head.
Does seem like it will be harder for Asemu to stop Zeheart right now. He's become completely unreasonable and is now in a very effective unit. Asemu may have to pass off the job of stopping him to Kio who at least seems to have a unit powerful enough to get the job done. No matter how skilled Asemu is his unit is holding him back here.
Think all they gained here was SID gaining knowledge and learning how to become more effective. Managed to protect EXA-DB from destruction on top of it all.
Do have my theory for how the series may go from here. With the torch kind of getting passed may see Kio and Zeheart clash to decide the direction of their future. Asemu can take on this mysterious "greatest Vagan pilot" since he is the representative "Super Pilot." Then just throw Fram and Flit into a bout which may snap Flit out of it if he comes close to killing someone pretty well piloting the same unit Yurin did. Figure either during or after the fights they can all just go at the improved SID.
But that's just a theory.
